Billups suffered a torn achillies tendon in Orlando Magic game

Chauncey Billups is a Sports Cipher All-Star. Unfortunately, we won’t see him anymore this NBA season because like most veterans in the game he…(DRUM ROLL PLEASEEE) tore his left Achilles tendon. Billups was competing in a game with Orlando Magic. The Clippers ended up winning 107-102 in overtime.

Ol’ Billups needs to retire. He’s 35, he’s created a legacy but no rings. That’s probably why he’s still fighting his worse fear of being hurt his first year with a team. There’s no doubt he’s going to be playing somewhere else next season IF he recovers in time. Knowing that all professional sports team have magic trainers that turn over questionable recovery times. His contract with the Clippers is up after this year and even though the NBA has played like two games (exaggeration) this season he wants to return to LA. The dynamic of CP3, him and Blake Griffin could create the next “Big 3” SIKE!

Billups says regarding his recovery, “No, sir. There is no way I’m going to crawl out of the league,” Billups said Tuesday. “I’m going to be back. Trust me.” He also goes on to say, “I’ll get it taken care of and get back the best way I can. That’s exactly what I’m going to do.”

I know the coach is weak right now because he lost one of his powerhouses. Vinny del Negro, Clippers Coach, commented, “He brings so many intangibles, so much leadership. I feel terrible for him. “It’s a big blow for us, all the things that Chauncey brings off the court, on the court,” Del Negro said. “We’re just going to have to have other guys step up and we’re going to have to move forward and do whatever we can to support him and handle this as best we can.”

I like the fact that Chauncey has been in the game for 15 years but will he be back for 16? He’s played with a healthy number of teams: Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets (twice) Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and New York Knicks for like 20 mins (exaggeration). What if he decides that his recovery isn’t quick enough? He’s got hurt last year playing for the Knicks in a playoff game against the Boston Celtics. That shooting machine needs some oil.
