Jeter reaches the milestone in an amazing fashion on July 9, 2011. Only two hits away from having 3,000 hits in his storied career prior to the game against the Rays. He reached the milestone with a 5-5 game. In a day that he thrust himself into history he made additional history by being the second player in history to have a 5 hit game when reaching the milestone along with Craig Biggio. Jeter one up-ed Biggio by having 5 hits and no outs. He is also the first to do it in the Yankee pinstripes.
