Micheal Phelps Breaks Olympic Record And Enhances Legacy

Micheal Phelps the greatest swimmer and arguably the greatest Olympic athlete, broke yet another Olympic record in London. With his gold medal win in the 4×200- meter Men’s relay, Phelps won his 19th Olympic medal the most in Olympic history.

Heading into this years Olympics Phelps came into the London Olympics only three medals short beating the previous record of 18 held by Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina.

Slow Start

Phelps had a slow start in these Olympics with disappointing finishes in the 4×100- meter Men’s relay,200-meter freestyle, 400-meter individual medley. He has now got back into form wining silver in both the 4×100-meter freestyle and the 200-meter butterfly.

Looking To Extend Record

Phelps looks to put the record out reach with three events remaining in London. The 200-meter individual medley, the 100-meter butterfly and the 4×100-meter medley relay.

According to AP:

“It has been a pretty amazing career but we still have a couple races to go,”
