With the Orioles Loss, Yankees Win Sends Them to the Top

During the Kickoff Special most people were watching the New York Giants (0-1) and Dallas Cowboys (1-0). The Giants got their butts handed to them and so did the Tampa Bay Rays (75-62). The New York Yankees (77-59) defeated the Rays 6-4 in order to regain their threatened AL East lead. Without CC Sabathia, the Yankees have struggled which caused them to lose their lead in the first place.

On the other hand, losing a game to the Toronto Blue Jays didn’t help the Baltimore Orioles (76-60) keep their the tie in the East. In their last game in Canada, the O’s lost 4-6. Can they bounce back? Their next series is against the Yankees at Camden Yards. Being at home can help them at least solidify one win. The ENTIRE series is sold out in Baltimore.

Easily, this is the biggest series of the season for both teams. On the Yankees side, it’s difficult for New York not to have the AL East lead since they’ve been a powerhouse in the AL for years on end. However, the Orioles haven’t been in a position so close to the lead for 15 years. They need to do well in series to prove to the Yankees and the rest of the world that they are worth heading to the playoffs.

Yankees and Orioles series kicks off Thursday at 7:05 pm at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
